Our portfolio
Here are some examples of sites created by us – and details of the challenges that they are designed to meet.
Here you can see in practice some of the things we’ve been talking about on this website – good design coupled with clear, intuitive navigation and structure and consummate ease of use for the site owner. Click on any picture to be taken through to the site it represents.
We hope this gives you an idea of the kind of work we have been doing and of our capabilities for working on sites big, small and everywhere in between – and that you’re inspired to get in touch to talk about your own requirements.

Sam Bird’s 2010 website
- Sam Bird is one of the most exciting new talents in British motorsport, competing in the the GP2 series that supports Formula One during 2010. Our brief on taking over management of Sam’s site was to provide an update within the existing design that reflected his needs for the 2010 season. We did this with new photography and branding that reflected the livery of his new team, GP2 front-runners ART Grand Prix, as well as integrating a regular podcast feature. The site, which carries regular reports of his race performances, should provide an essential resource for fans who want to keep up with his career.

The Nurdler custom WordPress theme and Twitter background
- The Nurdler is one of Onlineability’s stable of successful sports blogs – this time concentrating on the lighter side of cricket, particularly Test and England games. Its new look was designed to be quirky, individualistic, authentic and instantly recognisable to visitors. To reinforce this we also made a custom Twitter background based on the same design – you can view that here. Other priorities included readability and the clear presentation of information. We aim to grow The Nurdler into a site that is as successful as our motorsport site Brits on Pole – and this new look is the next step in that process.

Duncan Tappy
- Duncan Tappy is one of Britain’s most well-rounded racing talents. A two-time nominee for the country’s most prestigious racing prize, the McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award in 2007, he is a past winner of the Formula Ford Festival, the British Formula Renault title and a former BRDC Rising Star and Superstar. When he needed to update his website for the 2010 season, during which he is returning to Superleague Formula with the Brazilian club Flamengo, he worked with Onlineability to produce what we feel is one of our strongest designs to date.

The Takeover Panel
- The Panel on Takeovers and Mergers is an independent body, established in 1968, whose main functions are to issue and administer the City Code on Takeovers and Mergers and to supervise and regulate takeovers and other matters to which the Code applies. Based at the London Stock Exchange, its central objective is to ensure fair treatment for all shareholders in takeover bids. We were asked to come up with a clean design appropriate to the organisation which was simple for busy staff to use and which met stringent reliability criteria as it needs to be constantly operational, and this site was the result.

The Screech Owl Sanctuary
- The sanctuary provides care and rehabilitation for sick and injured wild owls in Cornwall as well as running a popular visitor attraction. Onlineability has been working with its team to modernise an existing website, to make it easy to update and to add new features. We did this by migrating existing content onto a WordPress platform then re-skinning it with a custom theme for a really fresh and eye-catching design. We also took this opportunity to refresh and overhaul the content and to suggest where it might be expanded.

Brits on Pole custom WordPress theme
- As our motorsport site has gone from strength to strength, and started to become an integral part of our business, we produced a custom WordPress theme to create the look we wanted coupled with the versatility to help it grow. The result is a professional, dynamic site with a strong identity that has been accorded media credentials by globally-recognised motorsport teams, major racing series, and leading tyre manufacturers. It has also led to opportunities to work with drivers, teams and agencies working at the very highest levels of motorsport.

PoliticalBetting.com revamp and header
- Politicalbetting.com is an influential and lively site where punters and politicians mix to trade tips, quips and friendly insults about political events and the betting markets’ reactions to them. Founder Mike Smithson appealed to readers to develop a new masthead banner image as a replacement for his own designs – and Onlineability took on the challenge. Mike said: “In the four and a half years since we were established we’ve stuck with incorporating pictures of politicians in one form or another on the masthead. This was good at first but it required constant updating when new figures came in and old figures went out.” Instead, he wanted a new design that incorporated the twin themes of the site – politics and gambling. Onlineability worked with him to develop a banner image and, later, a custom Twitter background.
