What we use and recommend
If you're looking for web hosting, domain registration services, a blog/content management system or project management software, then check out the links below. It includes some of the software and services used by Onlineability that we have found works well.
We're also suggesting a course on profitable blogging plus recommendations for a couple of the best entry points to the UK affiliate market - again, all resources that have served us well. We hope you find them useful too:
- Web hosting
- Webmasters is a Florida-based web host that we've been using for some years. In that time we've experienced rare downtime and excellent technical support with enquiries typically answered immediately within working hours. This company also provides a good basket of services for the money it charges, including supporting several server-side languages. You can also register domains and host anything from one to 100 websites on one account. Learn more here.
- Domain registration
- We have used Freeparking.co.uk for many years and find it transparent, competitive and easy to use. Get started with the search box below:

- Project management software
- Basecamp is a secure online project management system that allows people to collaborate on tasks, share documents, work from mutual to-do lists, get notified about important developments and generally keep track of what is going on. It's certainly brought some order to our lives here in the Onlineability office - maybe it will do the same for you. Learn more here.
- Blogging and content management
- We think you can't do better than downloading the open-source Wordpress software and hosting it on your own server. And it's relatively easy to install and run so you don't need to be a technical genius to do it. Visit Wordpress.org to learn everything you could possibly need to know about installing and running it.
- Setting up and developing a blog
- Blog Mastermind is a comprehensive course including audio, video and written materials put together by entrepreneur Yaro Starak. It it he examines in depth how to create a blog, fill it with effective content and set it to earning you money. Most importantly, he explains how to do this in a way that won't eat up your entire life. We learnt a lot from this course and think it's got plenty to offer - you can learn more about it here including a free download of his Blog Profits Blueprint.
- Affiliate marketing
- Joining an affiliate marketing programme allows you to add targeted text links and image-based advertisements to your websites then earn commission on products sold. It's a great way of monetising a site because it leaves you very much in control. We think there are advantages to joining a network because it streamlines payments and gives structure to the relationship between marketer and affiliate. The two most effective affiliate networks operating in the UK are, hands down, Affiliate Window and Webgains. Click on the links to learn more about them.
